Michelle Cotter Richards knows exactly how to help lawyers succeed.
I have been helping lawyers develop and optimize their careers for nearly 10 years, with a focus on cultivating business development, leadership, and management skills, and helping lawyers make successful career transitions.
Through intensive, experiential workshops and individualized coaching, I help lawyers:
GROW - develop the skills they need to be successful in their specific professional context, based on their individual expertise and strengths, practice area, group dynamics, and long-term career goals.
BUILD - create a profitable practice they truly care about, which is aligned with the strategic direction of the firm, and focused on clients they want to work with.
LEAD - learn how to manage themselves, their clients, and their colleagues while creating a path to achieve what they want now and in the future.
As a former litigator at an AmLaw 100 firm and as in-house counsel for public and private companies, I know firsthand the challenges lawyers face. This experience, combined with my coaching expertise, enables me to help my clients achieve their goals and create extraordinary results.
I received my J.D. with Honors from The George Washington University Law School, and my B.A. from Fordham University. I earned a certificate in Leadership Coaching for Organizational Performance through Philosophy IB/George Mason University. I am an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) with ICF, and a certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), DISC, and EQ-i 2.0 facilitator.
I am also the author of the best-selling book, “Originate: Business Development for Lawyers” and helped create the D.C. Bar’s groundbreaking emotional intelligence training program for lawyers. I speak frequently on business and professional development issues affecting lawyers.
If you are a lawyer who wants to learn how to learn, grow, and build, I would love to help.
